What is Future Continuous Tense?
It is a verb tense that shows something is about to happen in the near future. Also, it is used to describe something that will continue to happen for a period of time.
1. Describing an action that will be taking place in the near future
We use “will be” and add “ing” to the root verb to describe this action. Let’s look at the two examples:
“Ri Lin will be going to school later.”
In this case, “will be going” is the Future Continuous Tense used to describe the action by Ri Lin that will take place later.
“Phelan will be eating dinner at the restaurant tonight.”
For this sentence, the subject is about the eat at the restaurant later at night.
2. Asking a question
You can also use Future Continuous Tense when asking a question. We use “will” followed by the subject and the verb. Let’s try some examples:
“Will she be visiting Tim?”
This is known as the interrogative form, in which the question is about the possibility of the subject visiting Tim in the near future.
“Will they be running at the park?”
For this example, the subject is in the plural form (“they”). The question is about the possibility of the group of people running at the park in the near future.
